Two-time CEO led MPEA through times of great change, including campus expansion and labor reforms.
CHICAGO–The Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority (MPEA) family is saddened to learn of the passing of former CEO and Trustee Jim Reilly, whose vision and passion allowed Chicago to grow, prosper and remain a world-class competitor in the ever-changing convention and tourism industries. A fiercely dedicated public servant, Jim’s impact on Chicago and the State of Illinois looms large to this day.
His influence echoes throughout every inch of McCormick Place. During his time with MPEA, Jim steered us through campus expansion with the opening of the South Building, design and planning for the Wintrust Arena and Marriott Marquis Chicago, critical labor reforms and management changes for both the McCormick Place campus. It is no doubt that Jim’s hard work and steady leadership set MPEA up for success for decades to come.
